Moon Township, Pa. - Freshman
Rafael Bruzual, a forward on the
Robert Morris University men's soccer team, was named the U-ADE / Northeast Conference Player of the Week for the first time this season. Bruzual joins classmate
Corey McCurdy as Colonial players who have earned the conference honor this season.
Â
Bruzual, a reserve forward for RMU, was able to take advantage of some indecision by Knights keeper Matthew Weigner and tie the game in 88th minute. As Weigner weighed his options, Bruzual was able to collect a loose ball and score his first career goal to make it a 2-2 game late in regulation.
Â
Bruzual has played in nine games in his rookie season at RMU. The Colonials sit at 5-7-1 overall and 0-2 in the league following a pair of overtime losses at Bryant and Fairleigh Dickinson last weekend.
Â
Robert Morris returns to North Athletic Complex Friday, Oct. 17, to entertain LIU Brooklyn in a men's and women's soccer doubleheader. The game is slated to start at approximately 3:00 p.m.
