Against the Zips – Robert Morris has played Akron eight times in its history, but have fallen each time. Last year in the teams' first meeting since 2005, Zips beat the Colonials in straight sets at the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational.
 
Scouting Akron – The Zips come into this matchup with an overall record of 5-5, but have dropped three of their last four matches. Akron has one common opponent with Robert Morris, as it was swept by Indiana State at the Indiana State Tournament on Aug. 29. Sophomore outside hitter Amanda Bedell leads the team with 86 kills and 93.5 points, while senior middle blocker Mary Delich paces the Zips in blocks with 24 (7 solo, 17 assist).
 
Looking Ahead – Robert Morris completes a seven-match road trip this weekend in Oakland, Mich. at the Golden Grizzly Invite. The Colonials open up the invitational on Friday against UC-Irvine at 7:30 p.m., then play at noon and 5:00 p.m. on Saturday against Oakland and Bowling Green, respectively. This will be RMU's first meeting with the Anteaters and its fifth against both the Golden Grizzlies (2-2) and Falcons (0-4).

Know Your Enemy – The current Robert Morris team has played Akron just once in its career, last season at the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational. Outside hitter Arden Fisher notched a double-double in that meeting, tallying 10 kills and 15 digs. Fellow outside hitter Sydney Sizemore finished second on the team with eight kills that evening.
