MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU Volleyball team opens Horizon League play this weekend when it travels to Purdue Fort Wayne. Matches are scheduled for Friday, September 26 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, September 27 at 2 p.m.
RMU LATELY
The Colonials (4-7) were crowned champions of the Four Twelve Project Volleyball Invitational this past weekend. RMU was a 3-2 winner over Saint Francis before sweeping Buffalo. After finishing the event with 32 digs (4.0/set) and nine assists,
Jasmine Purakal was named tournament MVP and parlayed that into Horizon League Player of the Week honors.
Addyson Butts leads the HL with 0.63 aces/set and
Keira Hornung is second in the league with 1.23 blocks/set.
PURDUE FORT WAYNE LATELY
The Mastodons (2-9) went 1-2 in the Purdue Fort Wayne Invitational this past weekend, defeating Mercyhurst 3-1 and falling to Bellarmine in five sets and Toledo in straight sets. Mya Plemons is second in the Horizon League with a .344 hitting percentage and is third in blocks with 1.44/set. Riley Rosneck is third in the HL with 3.62 kills/set.
UP NEXT
The Colonials stay on the road for a midweek matchup at Youngstown State on Tuesday, September 30 before their conference home opener on Saturday, October 4 and Sunday, October 5 against Oakland.
