Krivoniak Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

April Krivoniak is first Academic All-District honoree for RMU volleyball since 2010

Greenwood, Ind. – Junior April Krivoniak of the Robert Morris University volleyball team has been named to the 2015 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team, as announced by CoSIDA this afternoon.

Krivoniak is the first RMU volleyball player since 2010 to be named to the team, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Krivoniak, a biomedical engineering major, has amassed a 3.99 GPA since her first semester at RMU in 2013.

The Latrobe, Pa., native is the seventh Colonial in volleyball program history to receive the prestigious honor and the second under head coach Dale Starr. Krivoniak's award marks the 12th of its kind for the program.

The veteran middle blocker/right side started 23 of all 25 matches played this season. Krivoniak ranks second on the squad in service aces, and fourth on the team in kills and total blocks. She has posted three double-doubles on the season (eight career) and recorded kills in double figures in four outings this year. Krivoniak tabbed 14 double-digit dig performances this season and has steadily improved throughout Northeast Conference action. She has hit at .300 or above in eight matches, including four NEC contests.

Just last weekend, Krivoniak put together a season-high performance. In a 3-1 loss to LIU Brooklyn, she posted a career-high 22 digs and a season-high five block assists, then went on to record another season best, hitting at a .529 clip in a win against St. Francis Brooklyn. Krivoniak is one of three NEC representatives to be named to this year's CoSIDA Academic All-District Team.

Additionally, Krivoniak is a two-sport athlete at RMU. A member of the women's track and field team, she competes in the shot put event. In 2014, she was named to the All-East Coast and All-NEC Rookie Teams.
