Pittsburgh, Pa. – Colonials fans will have 16 opportunities to catch the 2015-16
Robert Morris University women's hockey team on home ice at 84 Lumber Arena this season. The
full slate features 34 regular-season matchups, including 14 nonconference clashes.
RMU opens the year with four nonconference series with Bemidji State, Colgate, first-year Division I team Merrimack and RPI. The Colonials kick off the College Hockey America (CHA) season at home with a Halloween weekend series against Syracuse.
November, January and February each feature four home contests, including matchups with out of conference contenders Maine and Providence and CHA foes Penn State, Lindenwood and Mercyhurst.
Head coach
Paul Colontino is pleased with the valuable experience that this year's schedule poses for his squad.
Quoting Colontino:"Our 14-game nonconference schedule panned out to be very exciting this year. With new opponents in Providence and Merrimack from Hockey East, there should be some very exciting games. Our 14 nonconference games in total, which include Bemidji, Merrimack, Colgate, RPI, Providence, Quinnipiac and Maine, should give us a great opportunity to assess and adjust our skills and have a really good barometer for where we are nationally. The opportunity to play so many teams out of conference for us is very exciting. It gives us a great gauge when combined with our conference play as to where we are in the national picture."
Schedule Notes:-Six of RMU's regular-season contests peg the Colonials against two 2015 NCAA Tournament teams: RIT (four games) and Quinnipiac (two games)
-For the first time in program history, Robert Morris will face Merrimack as the Warriors launch their inaugural season
-Six of RMU's eight games to close out the regular season are scheduled to be played at 84 Lumber Arena
-Robert Morris will face four programs that concluded last season ranked in the top 20 of the NCAA NC Women's Hockey RPI
-The Colonials conclude the 2015-16 regular season with a two-game series at home versus the reigning CHA Champion RIT Tigers
