Moon Township, Pa. – Senior forward
Neco Brett was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week following the first weekend of the 2015 season. This week marks the fifth time that Brett has earned the league's weekly honor.
The reigning two-time NEC Player of the Year quickly returned to form this season. At Cleveland State Sunday, the senior scored four goals for the second time in his collegiate career in Robert Morris' 4-1 victory. It was
Neco Brett's third career hat trick which ties the program record for three goal games set by Jacek Przednowek (2005-07). The Colonials have started off the season 2-0 after wins against Niagara and Cleveland State.
Brett was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List which is given annually to the top men's soccer player in the nation. He stands sixth all-time in RMU history with 77 career points. His 33 career goals are fifth in team history.
The Colonials are off to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2007 following a season-opening win at Niagara and a 4-1 victory at Cleveland State. Stepping up things on the defensive end of the field, RMU has allowed just one goal – on a penalty kick – and 17 shots in the first two games.
Robert Morris opens its home slate Friday by hosting Saint Peter's in a 4:00 p.m. game at North Athletic Complex.
