Somerset, N.J. – Following one of the most impressive offensive performances in program history, senior guard Anna Niki Stamolamprou of the Robert Morris University women's basketball team was recognized by the Northeast Conference (NEC) as its Player of the Week, as announced by the league this afternoon.
Stamolamprou, a fourth-year guard from Thessaloniki, Greece, tied single-game school records on Monday night against LIU Brooklyn in points scored and field goals made, tallying 39 and 15, respectively. She shattered her previous career-high of 28 points by shooting 15-of-22 from the field and 6-of-10 on three-point attempts. The 39 points matches Artemis Spanou's performance on Feb. 8, 2014 against St. Francis Brooklyn, while the 15 made field goals has been duplicated on three different occasions – most recently by Sade Logan on March 9, 2008 against Monmouth.
Averaging 26.0 points over Robert Morris' most recent NEC two-game set, Stamolamprou also added 16 rebounds, three assists, and three steals. She ranks third in the league in scoring (15.7 PPG) and three-point field goals made (2.29), sixth in defensive rebounds (5.14), eighth in assists (2.71) and steals (1.57), and 10th in field goal percentage (.410) and three-point percentage (.340).
This is Stamolamprou's second NEC Player of the Week award this season – previously gaining the plaudits on Dec. 5, 2016 – and fifth top player honor overall.
Robert Morris is back on the road on Saturday, Jan. 14 at 1:00 p.m. against Wagner before returning home to the Charles L. Sewall Center for its following three contests.
