Moon Township, Pa. – The 
Robert Morris University rowing team continued its 2017 fall season this past weekend with the Head of the Occoquan in Fairfax Station, Va.
Highlighting the competition for the Colonials was the Novice 8+, which claimed bronze with a time of 21:36.83, trailing only West Virginia (21:04.96) and Delaware (21:07.97) and ahead of nine other institutions, including Pittsburgh and George Mason.
Serving as the coxswain of the Novice 8+ that finished third was freshman 
Madelyn Green, and she was joined in the boat by freshmen 
Emily Chmelovski, 
Mia Krolczyk and 
Katelyn DeAgro, junior 
Madalyn Trapp, freshman 
Nicole Kristof, junior 
Emma Smith and freshman 
Taylor Boczar.
"The novice class showed tremendous improvements in both speed and technique at the Head of the Occoquan," assistant coach 
Carol Schoenecker said. "They held their own against some tough competition and I look forward to seeing even more growth over winter training and heading into the spring season."
In Varsity 8+, Robert Morris took home a top 10 finish in a competition that featured 31 entrants. The Colonials posted a time of 18:16.00 to claim 10th. Sophomore

For RMU in Varsity 4+, the Colonials garnered seventh, crossing the finish line with a time of 20:00.97. Harris was also the coxswain for the boat, and freshman 
Molly McGuire, Asaro, Gossel and Levenson also competed in the boat.
Also in Varsity 4+ action, the boat that featured junior 
Sarah Heastings as the coxswain and also featured senior 
Molly Falcone, juniors 
Hannah Daman and 
Alyssa VanAuken and Cottrell placed 13th with a time of 20:36.70. In all, a total of 31 entrants also competed in Varsity 4+ action.
"Overall, it was a great day of racing," head coach 
Nelle Stahura said. "We had a strong showing in the Novice 8+ event, and I thought each boat stuck to the plan that we've asked them to accomplish this fall. The results show that their discipline is paying off."
Robert Morris will close out its 2017 fall campaign with the Duquesne Invitational Saturday, Nov. 11.
