PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Following their two game sweep of the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers at Clearview Arena this past weekend, the
Robert Morris University men's hockey team is receiving votes in both the USCHO.com and USA Today national polls.
RMU received two votes in the USCHO preseason poll as an honorable mention, and this week their 32 votes trail only St. Cloud St. (52) for programs outside the Top-20.
The Colonials also received eight votes in the latest USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Men's College Hockey Poll, which is conducted each week in conjunction with the
American Hockey Coaches Association.
The poll includes input from coaches and journalists representing each of the five NCAA Division I ice hockey conferences, as well as composite votes from officers of the AHCA and USA Hockey Magazine, the most widely distributed hockey magazine in the world.
The Colonials erupted for five goals in the third period of their season opener Saturday night against UAH to erase a third-period deficit and come away with a win before a dramatic, back-and-fourth rematch Sunday saw them come from behind again with two straight power play goals to complete the sweep.
They will kick off Atlantic Hockey competition starting this Friday, November 27 when they host Canisius for a pair of games at Clearview Arena.
