RMU Signs Suemnick To Scholarship Agreement

Colonials add another frontcourt player for 2020-21

Moon Township, Pa. – Pat Gallagher Head Coach Andrew Toole announced Thursday that the Robert Morris University men's basketball team has signed forward Patrick Suemnick (Green Bay, Wisc. / Denmark) to a scholarship agreement.

"We're excited to add Patrick to our 2020 recruiting class," Toole said. "He brings a lot of energy to the court and also impressed with his work ethic, and as a staff we felt he would be a great addition to our frontcourt. We're looking forward to seeing how he develops over the course of his career."

Suemnick, 6'8" and 225 pounds, spent the 2019-20 season with Don Bosco Prep in Crown Point, Ind., averaging 14.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per contest while converting over 50 percent of his shots from the field. He was also honored by Don Bosco Prep with the Grady Eifert All-In Award, given annually to the student-athlete who excels on the court, in the classroom and part of the community.

Suemnick is the second student-athlete from Don Bosco Prep on the RMU roster, joining guard Cameron Wilbon, who missed the 2019-20 campaign due to injury. As a senior at Denmark High School in Denmark, Wisc., Suemnick helped the Vikings advance to the semifinals of the state tournament as the Vikings finished with an overall record of 22-5 (.815). He averaged 19.1 points per game for Denmark.

The sixth student-athlete to join the 2020 recruiting class for Robert Morris, Suemnick joins forward Tyson Brown in the frontcourt as well as guards Enoch Cheeks, Kam Farris and Trayden Williams. Forward Kahliel Spear also joined the Colonials after transferring from Bucknell and will sit out the 2020-21 campaign due to NCAA transfer rules.

In 2019-20, RMU posted an overall record of 20-15 (.588), reaching the 20-win plateau fifth time in 10 seasons under Toole as well as the 11th overall in program history. The Colonials claimed their ninth Northeast Conference (NEC) Tournament championship with a 77-67 win over Saint Francis U (3/10/20) at Peoples Court at the UPMC Events Center.

Since the 2007-08 campaign, Robert Morris has posted an overall record of 261-185 (.585), an average of 20.1 wins per year. During that stretch the Colonials have earned four automatic berths in the NCAA Tournament (2009, 2010, 2015, 2020), have appeared in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) on three occasions (2008, 2013, 2014) and have played twice in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) (2012, 2019).

RMU returns three starters and five letterwinners in 2020-21, including guards Dante Treacy and Jon Williams and forward AJ Bramah as starters. In June of 2020, the Colonials joined the Horizon League in 10 of its 16 intercollegiate athletic programs.
