Riley?s Two-Goal Performance Earns Her CHA Rookie Of The Week Honors

Moon Township, Pa. - Freshman Jessica Riley (Hamilton, Ontario / Stoney Creek Sabres), a member of the Robert Morris University women's ice hockey team, has been named the College Hockey America Rookie of the Week for January 22.

Riley scored her first two goals of the season against Northeastern University on Sunday. Her first was on a breakaway to give RMU a 2-1 lead, while her second came with 6.2 seconds left in overtime to win the game, 3-2, for the Colonials. The assists on both goals came from twin sister Jordan Riley (Hamilton, Ontario / Stoney Creek Sabres).

For the Colonials, this is the eighth time the team has had a player represented for CHA Weekly honors. Sophomores Brianne McLaughlin (Sheffield Village, Oh. / Ohio Flames), Kristen Miles (London, Ontario / London Devillettes) and Freshman Heather Rossi (Kunkletown, Pa. / Wisconsin Wild) have all been past recipients.

The Colonials (9-13-2, 1-3-0 CHA) return to action this weekend as they host Detroit native and CHA rival Wayne State in a two-game series at the RMU Island Sports Center. Game times are set for 7:35 p.m. on January 26 and 27.
