NEC Weekly ReleaseMoon Township, Pa. – The
Robert Morris University volleyball team had its first member honored by the Northeast Conference (NEC) this season as sophomore outside hitter
Arden Fisher was recognized as the Molten/NEC Player of the Week.
Fisher, a returnee of last season's All-NEC Second Team, opened up her sophomore campaign with four consecutive double-doubles, which brought her career total to 13. She averaged 3.67 kills per set and hit at a .218 clip offensively, and added 3.20 digs per set and six block assists defensively.
In Robert Morris' season opener against reigning Horizon League champion Milwaukee, Fisher hit at a .320 clip as she collected 11 kills and 12 digs. In a match against Miami (Ohio) later that evening, the sophomore outside hitter registered her second double-double of the day with 13 kills and 10 digs.
Fisher closed out the Panther Invitational with 19 kills, 15 digs, and a .349 hitting percentage against North Dakota State. In the Colonials' Labor Day matchup with West Virginia, the Oakmont, Pa. native paced the team with 12 kills and 11 digs.
Currently, Fisher sits second in the NEC in kills per set, ninth in digs per set, and 10th in hitting percentage. Her 55 kills through four matches are the most for a RMU player since Megan Bell tallied 64 through four matches in 2003.
The Colonials return to the court Friday morning as they open up the annual Duquesne / Robert Morris Invitational with a match against Indiana State. That meeting is scheduled for an 11:00 a.m. start from the Charles L. Sewall Center. RMU will also take on Youngstown State at 7:00 p.m. that evening.
