Pittsburgh, Pa. – Sitting just outside the top 10, the
Robert Morris University women's hockey team continues to receive votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll and the USCHO.com Division I Women's Poll for the fifth straight week, released by USCHO.com.
Robert Morris (10-1-5, 5-0-1) is currently the only team in College Hockey America (CHA) that is undefeated in league action, and either ranked or receiving votes nationally. Additionally, RMU moved up four spots to No. 8 this week in the Women's Division I PairWise Rankings, a system that attempts to mimic the method used by the NCAA Selection Committee to determine participants for the NCAA Division I women's hockey tournament.
This week, the Colonials sit just shy of the top 10, with 17 votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Women's College Hockey Poll, and 15 votes in the USCHO.com poll.
RMU tied No. 5 Clarkson, 3-3 (OT), in the opening round of the Windjammer Classic, and defeated St. Cloud State, 5-3, in the consolation game to extend its current unbeaten streak to nine games. Robert Morris ranks fifth in the nation on the power play, fifth in team winning percentage, 10
th in scoring offense, and 10
th in scoring margin. The Colonials lead the country in game-tying points (nine) and game-tying goals (three).
Freshman forward
Jaycee Gebhard was named to the Windjammer Classic All-Tournament Team. She leads the nation in power-play goals (six) and power-play points (12). Redshirt junior forward
Brittany Howard shares the national lead in power-play points, and paces the country in power-play assists (eight). Howard also ranks number one in points in ties (eight) and points when trailing (nine).
Robert Morris returns to CHA action this weekend at Penn State in a two-game series on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 1 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 4 at noon.
