Taking home his second Higher Images RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week honor of 2014 is sophomore goaltender Terry Shafer of the ice hockey squad. A native of Penfield, N.Y., Shafer compiled a 1.44 goals against average as well as a .957 save percentage in helping the Colonials earn three points in its weekend trip to RIT. In the opening game of the series, Shafer posted 40 saves in a 2-2 draw, the second time this season he’s reached the 40-save plateau. The next evening, Shafer turned away 26 shots in helping preserve a 5-1 victory. For his efforts, Shafer was tabbed the Travel Team USA Golatender and Travel Team Player of the Week by the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) Tuesday, Feb. 11. In helping lead Robert Morris to a nine-game unbeaten streak, Shafer has gone 7-0-2 in between the pipes while registering a 1.96 goals against average.Â
