Earning his second consecutive Chick-Fil-A Robinson RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week nod to open 2022 is senior Kahliel Spear of the basketball team. In a 1-1 (.500) week that wrapped up a five-game homestand at the UPMC Events Center, Spear, a native of The Colony, Texas, averaged 18.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game while shooting 65.2 percent (15-for-23) from the field. In a 74-64 triumph over Northern Kentucky (1/15/22) that concluded the homestand, Spear recorded his fourth double-double of the season and fifth in an RMU uniform with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Overall during the 2021-22 season, Spear, an economics major who has maintained a 3.92 cumulative grade point average (GPA), is pacing the Colonials in both scoring and rebounding with per game averages of 13.2 and 6.9, respectively.
