Earning the Chick-fil-A Robinson RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week for Jan. 18, 2023, is sophomore forward Phoenix Gedeon of the basketball team. Gedeon, a native of Montreal, Quebec, shares the honor with her teammate, junior guard Mackenzie Amalia. Gedeon averaged a double-double in a pair of Horizon League contests last week, leading the way for the Colonials with averages of 17.0 points and 10.0 rebounds while converting 45.8 percent (11-for-24) of her attempts from the floor. She notched identical lines of 17 points and 10 caroms against both the Penguins and Jaguars, notching her sixth and seventh double-doubles of the 2022-23 season. Overall on the year, Gedeon leads RMU in both scoring (13.5 ppg) and rebounding (8.3 rpg).
