He advanced to the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned three letters from 1969-72. A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Edwards continued his career in basketball after his playing days, serving as an NBA scout with the Seattle Supersonics and Portland Trailblazers (1995-99), Milwaukee Bucks (2000) and Phoenix Suns (2001-05) and coaching in the collegiate ranks as an assistant with Robert Morris (1973-75), Pitt (1975-80), UNLV (1984-90 and 1994-95) and Marshall (1990-93). While an assistant with the Runnin Rebels, UNLV claimed the 1990 national championship, defeating Duke, 103-73, in the NCAA Tournament final. Edwards also served as interim head coach for UNLV during the 1994-95 campaign.
