A native of Elyria, Ohio, Underman was part of RMU's first two NCAA Tournament teams (1982 and 1983) and as a senior in 1984-85 became the first student-athlete in school history to eclipse career totals of both 1,000 points and 500 rebounds. He finished his career with 1,210 points and 576 caroms. During his final campaign at Robert Morris, Underman supplied averages of 17.3 points and 7.9 rebounds a contest. For those efforts he was named an Honorable Mention All-American by The Associated Press.
