A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Baughman was a hurdling specialist for the Colonials and was a member of three NEC championship teams, including the 1999 indoor, 2000 indoor and 2000 outdoor titles. He owns the top five times in school history for both the the 55-meter high hurdles and 60-meter high hurdles during the indoor track and field season with times of 7.60 and 8.15 seconds, respectively. He is also part of the the 4x400-meter relay team that owns the school record with a time of 3:16.73. For outdoor track and field, Baughman owns school records for both the 110-meter high hurdles (14.18) and the 400-meter intermediate hurdles (51.33).
