RMU Athletic Hall of Fame
1975-78
Named the athletic director and baseball manager at RMU when it was a junior college, Mease oversaw the transition of the athletic department from the junior college ranks to NCAA Division I. RMU is considered the first athletic program in the country to make the jump from the junior college ranks to NCAA Division I. The programs to join NCAA Division I under Mease's watch was basketball, tennis, golf and baseball. Mease was also a sportscaster with both KDKA and WPXI in Pittsburgh, Pa., and had three sons play collegiately at RMU. His son, Bart, is a 1999 graduate of RMU who was a 2004 inductee into the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame (men's golf), while sons Kert (1996) and Blake (2002) both played soccer for the Colonials. Kert is a member of the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the 1993 men's soccer team.
