In four seasons as head coach of the Colonials, Horsmon posted an overall record of 97-50 (.660), including a record of 34-2 (.944) in Northeast Conference action. In each of his four years at the helm, Robert Morris claimed the NEC Tournament title and subsequent bid to the NCAA Tournament. Three times under Horsmon's watch the Colonials also claimed NEC regular-season championships. In his first season as a collegiate head coach in 1999, the Colonials became the first women's team at RMU to qualify for an NCAA Tournament. That season he earned the first of two NEC Coach of the Year accolades, as he also claimed the award in 2002. Four members of the RMU Athletic Hall of Fame from volleyball were coached by Horsmon, including Katie Noble (1999-2002), Darcey Miller (2001-04), Rachel Leitch (2001-04) and Megan Bell (2002-05). Bell is the program's all-time leader in kills, while Noble ranks second.
